Teacher
“There is no other Teacher, but your own Soul”
Sw.Vivekananda
Io Calis-Bletzaki/Sn.Yogananda has been active in the field of Yoga since 1992. In 1996, she received her certification as a yoga teacher from Satyanandashram Greece, and in 1999, she received her Diploma in Yoga Studies from BYB (BiharYogaBharati, the first recognized Yoga University in India). After her formal studies, she immersed herself in all branches of yoga and continued learning during her extended stays in Greek and Indian ashrams. She has since had a constant presence in various yoga centers, while also participating, organizing, and presenting programs, workshops, and seminars on the various branches of yoga as well as other holistic treatments.
In 2002, she created YogaHomePractice “Ananda”, a Home teaching facility in the center of Athens that was later energetically reopened on the island of Skopelos. Since then, she has delved into other classical yoga styles, including Ashtanga and Iyengar, while continuing to enrich her knowledge of Ayurveda (with the American Institute of Vedic studies/Dr. D. Frawly) and Eastern philosophies (Dr. Dimitris Vasiliadis/Sw. Deva).
Therapy, as well as therapeutic methods and techniques, were and remain her main interest, which is what led her to the NDI Psychotherapeutic approach (non-directive-interventional psychotherapy and group facilitation) where she was trained experientially by the founder of NDI, Michel Lobrot and his team, from 2000-2003, where she began working with individuals, In later years, she did training for Life Coaching, which she incorporates into her psychotherapy sessions, when she feels it is needed. During her many years of immersion in yoga, she also received her second degree in Reiki and studied multiple other treatments and techniques, including Rejuvance psychotherapy, Esoteric Astrology, Aromatherapy, and Dowsing Pendulum. She continues to teach and learn therapeutic approaches experientially, in order to provide as comprehensive a service as possible to her students and clients.
Io Calis-Bletzaki/Sn.Yogananda feels and consistently maintains the attitude of the student. She lives permanently in the village of Glossa on Skopelos Island with her husband, the artist-painter George Calis, and teaches year round at YogaHomePractice “Ananda”.
